I know, I know. I’m waaaay overdue for posting a new recipe. But between our kitchen remodel and my non-blogging life, April has turned into a CrazyBusyCanHardlyKeepItAllTogether month! The only thing that seems to barely be surviving are the herbs in my kitchen window – and they are hanging on for dear life! (For background on our decision to undertake a kitchen overhaul, see this post.)
I could get into the specifics, but I decided to spare you the details. Suffice it to say that had everything gone as I planned, the kitchen would be done by now. But. That. Didn’t. Happen.
The reason I haven’t posted any recipes is because, as of this morning, my kitchen looked like this (I apologize for the unedited, blurry and poorly colored photos, but apparently my WordPress platform isn’t enjoying my cell phone photos nearly as much as I am).
Note the lack of counters. And a kitchen sink. And faucet.
In fact, everything that was in the kitchen cupboards and pantry is now here.
And here.
And here.
My dining room has become the staging area for my over-abundance of kitchen crap. Cleaning out the kitchen made me realize how much “stuff” we’ve accumulated over the years. I need to undertake a major culling of my kitchen population before anything goes back in. Add that to number 329 on my list of “to do’s”….
Luckily, the new marble counter tops were installed today. Without giving too much away – I want to save the big reveal for when the kitchen is actually done – here’s what this kitchen looks like as of this afternoon.
And this.
And this (we added a little breakfast bar).
As the faucet, water, garbage disposal, etc. isn’t hooked up, the kitchen is still not functional. Thankfully, the plumber comes tomorrow to take care of that and I might actually be able to do some basic cooking in the near future.
And next week, the new cabinet faces will be arriving. Then it’s just a matter of painting, installing the backsplash, refurbishing the tile floors…. The list is still quite long. If all goes according to plan (yeah, right), I should be back to a fully functional kitchen within a couple of weeks.
Again, I apologize for the lack of recipes, but keep checking back. I hope to have a full before/during/after the kitchen remodel post ready with lots of helpful hints for anyone brave enough to take on a kitchen remodel of their own!
