I think I just discovered my new favorite smoothie. My usual “go to” version has a base of banana, blueberries and raspberries. But we found some beautiful melons and basil at the market and this idea popped in my head.
The melons were so sweet and juicy that I had to wrestle enough away from my husband to make this drink. And it’s a good thing I did because less than an hour later, the rest of my smoothie stash mysteriously disappeared. It’s that good!
Ingredients (serves 2)
1 cup diced watermelon (seedless)
1 cup diced cantaloupe
1 chopped banana
¼ cup lemon juice
1 cup almond or soy milk
fresh basil (as much as you like)
agave nectar or honey (optional)
Directions
Place all ingredients in a blender and mix until completely smooth. If needed, add a small amount of sweetener. Serve chilled.
