Yep (gulp)! I’m gonna do it!
Do what, you ask?
What I’m Going To Do
In a nutshell, I’m going to follow Dr. Fuhrman’s Eat To Live 6-Week weight loss program and post ‘live’ daily progress reports here on this blog and on my Facebook page.
For a full six weeks.
Including Thanksgiving.
I kid you not.
Why I’m Doing It
After I hit the “publish” button on my Q3 2015 Eat To Live Report last week, something really bothered me, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I browsed through all of my 2014 and 2015 Eat To Live reports and decided I need to set the record straight on a few points.
• First of all, I’m concerned that I may be giving people the impression that Dr. Fuhrman’s Eat To Live program is difficult, if not impossible, to follow. And while I don’t think that’s the case, I can see how people could reach that conclusion after reading my reports. So I want to put the kibosh on that right now!
• Second, it really ticked me off to read how many times I said that unexpected/outside circumstances prevented me from sticking with the program. I’ve had a number of emails and comments from people telling me that I’m being a bit hard on myself in this respect. But what is comes down to is that I started this series of reports to help people on their health journey, whether they are following Dr. Fuhrman or any other get healthy/weight loss/nutrition program. And guess what? No matter who you are, there are always going to be obstacles thrown in your path. Rather than using them as excuses to derail, I’ve decided to come up with ways to maneuver around them and keep going!
• Third, I promised in this post and that one, that I would create an eBook about my experience with the Eat To Live program, as well as recipes, grocery lists, helpful hints, etc. When I started researching how to do an eBook, I realized it was going to take a lot of time, cost money and involve a bit of technology (not my strong suit). I decided to find a better way to convey the same information. By doing the program “live”, I hope it will make the process of following any diet or nutrition plan seem more doable and accessible to others. And it would be even better if anyone out there wants to follow the program along with me! I’ll lay it out for you step by step!
• And finally, I just want to drop that last 10 pounds once and for all!
How It’s Going To Work
When Will This Happen: I will start the program on Monday, October 19th and finish it on Sunday, November 29th.
Getting Prepared: Since I start the program on Monday, I’ll need to do grocery shopping and some prep work the day before. On my blog this Sunday, I will post the grocery list and recipes I cooked in advance to eat over the next few days. I will also create a list of pantry items to have on hand, as well as a list of kitchen tools needed to prep the food.
What You’ll Find on My Facebook Page: You can follow me on my Facebook page (click “Like” and “Following” to receive updates in your news feed) starting Monday morning. Throughout the day, and every day thereafter, I will post updates about what I ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I will also post “Cheat Alerts”, “Hunger/Snack Alerts”, “Obstacle Alerts” and any other information I think would be of interest to readers about how I’m handling being on the program.
What You’ll Find on Parsley In My Teeth: At the end of each day, I’ll publish a post recapping everything that happened that day. The post will also contain the recipes for everything I ate that day. I will try to include as many photos of the meals as possible. At the end of the week, I’ll post a recap and my results for the week.
Final HesitationsRegrets Thoughts
Isn’t this taking things a bit too far, you may ask? Maybe. But the more I thought about it, the more I think it’s a good idea. How many times do you read articles about diets failing or succeeding and wonder what really happened? Well, in my case, you’ll know exactly what’s going on every step of the way.
What I’d really like is for others out there to jump on the bandwagon with me so we can chat about the experience, whether you’re following ETL or any similar program. Or for those who are just following along, feel free to shoot me any questions you have either on my blog, Facebook, or email. If you’ve tried ETL before, I’d love to hear what your experience was like. Let’s get a conversation going!
Of course, I came up with this bright idea while my husband was out of town. Can’t wait to see his reaction when he gets home tonight….. He can either come along for the ride or fend for himself in the kitchen the next 6 weeks!
And now, it’s off to the races!
