As promised in this post, I’ll give monthly updates until the end of the year as to whether I’m keeping off the weight I lost, and how the maintenance phase of following Dr. Furhman’s Eat To Live plan is going.
February was tricky because I spent the first 2 weeks of it on vacation. Despite my best efforts to not overindulge in food and drink, I ended up gaining back 4 of the 14.5 pounds I had lost. Ugh! So in the 3 weeks since I’ve returned, have I taken the weight back off?
Nope.
I have absolutely no excuse. I have been incredibly lazy since getting back from vacation. Isn’t the point of taking a holiday to recharge your batteries so you can hit the ground running when you get back home? Getting sick on vacation certainly didn’t help but it doesn’t explain my lethargy since then. This is really embarrassing to admit, but I still haven’t fully unpacked my luggage! And I haven’t gone to the gym since before vacation. This is so not like my normal self, who is usually incredibly organized, motivated and on top of things.
It‘s time to pull myself up by my boot straps and get back with the program. I’m a firm believer in the motto “if you fail to plan, then plan to fail.” That’s really at the root of where I’ve gone wrong because I stopped planning out what I need to do. At the beginning of every week, I usually come up with a game plan for what I want to accomplish and when. It gives me a sense of achievement as I progress through the list.
Make grocery list and shop. Check.
Go to the gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Check.
Prepare blog posts Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Check.
Take car to the shop. Check.
Do the bills. Check.
Kiss the dog. And the husband. Daily. Hourly. Check.
No matter how routine or mundane the task, I like keeping track of how much has been done and how much is left to do. It keeps me moving forward from one thing to the next. So as soon as I finish writing this, I’m getting back on the wagon and coming up with a list for the entire month of March. And at the top of that list will be to get my butt back in the gym and drop that 4 pounds – and unpack the rest of my luggage!
Check back next month to see if I held myself to task!

Good for you! Though sometimes we need a little vacation after the vacation.
